Right off the bat we can see that Ganondorf takes inspiration from a various number of appearances from the Zelda series as a whole (mostly being Twilight Princess). First, the mane is obviously inspired from Demise, who also sported a flowing mane. The hood ornament is directly inspired from his Twilight Princess look. However, if you look at Ganondorf’s arms, you can see that he sports the Golden Gauntlets from Ocarina of Time as a nice touch.

While the armor looks completely unrelated, if one looks closely, they can see this armor is actually very inspired by the armor which Ganondorf used in Twilight Princess, only that it’s blue, bulkier, and has fur. It also has a more pronounced under shirt this time around, which helps to make Ganondorf look bigger than he is. Also, if you look at the chest plate; you can see the Gerudo symbol painted on.

As a bonus; if you look at the sword on his right hand, you can see that it is inspired by the sword featured in the Super Smash Bros. games mixed with Demise’s blade, the first had the curved tip while the latter had the saw-blade-like spokes.

Onto the content of the video. We can understand from the beginning that Ganondorf’s main element of attack is darkness. His style of fighting appears to be juggling his enemies around with the two swords in his hands and freezing his opponents with dark magic.

His special attacks seem to be a dark ball which he will place on the ground, and pound to explode. This is very similar to the attack he uses in Ocarina of time when he charged up an energy ball, but aesthetically looks similar to the charge-up attack Phantom Ganon had in The Wind Waker.

We then see Ganon transform into a shadowy figure. If one were to pause at 0:58, you would notice this shadow has a small green eye and the muzzle of a dog. This definitely seems to be a hint towards his Ganon transformation; the question is: which one could this take inspiration from? From the look of the shadowy effect, it could be taking inspiration from the dream sequence in A Link Between Worlds, when he was engulfed in shadows, or his Twilight Princess appearance, when Ganondorf had the ability to turn into a shadow.

The final attack of the video then shows Ganondorf charging his hands with dark energy balls again, which he uses to pound the ground, scattering his foes about.

(Update) Thanks to the new screenshots provided by imgur. We now know that one of Ganondorf’s other moves is summoning a bolt of lightning from the sky, just like Demise.

Finally, did you notice the location where Ganondorf is fighting on? It hasn’t been revealed yet, but judging by the location of stone buildings and huge gardens, it looks to be a dark and twisted version of Hyrule Castle. What happens in the main story to cause such a catastrophe? Is this the final stage or somewhere in between? Tune into Zelda Dungeon for more information in the coming days. We will be covering such information, as well as the recent DLC costumes reveal.

And as a bonus: Note how Ganondorf subtlety opens a chest at the end with the greatest of grace.
