screen_shot_2014-08-12_at_12.58.21_pm__mediumA member on Tumblr has recently gotten their hands on the Japanese Hyrule Warriors Stragety/Art Book and shared and interesting discovery, a page containing a scrapped female version of Link. While translations are still coming in we have found that her name appears to be something like “Linkle” while the other two boxes are concepts for Lana and Cia.

Edit:After learning that this was actually a scrapped character that will not appear in the final game the article has been changed.

The text under her name can roughly be translated as “Girl version of the hero Link. Imagined in a ‘younger sister’-like form.” If this translation is to be trusted, she’s strictly a female version of Link, not a relative of his.

We will be updating with more translations as soon as we receive them.

Either way this was still a fun find in the artbook even if we will not be seeing her within the game. I am sure this will not be the last we see of her in the world of fanart. And now I cannot help but think people have a slightly more legitimate reason to confuse Link for Zelda in media.
