Twilight Princess is the winner of the 2015 ZVS Best Zelda Game Tournament, and whether you like the game or hate it, there are plenty of good reasons for it to be loved by so many. One of those is the sassy, endearing companion Midna, who for many breathed life into a character role (Link’s companion) that is often annoying and overbearing. There is also the music of the game, which revives old tunes in new ways, and brings in brand new songs that cement their place as classics in the Zelda series.

And then there’s where the two meet. One of the most emotionally affecting moments from Twilight Princess was when Midna was on the verge of death, and Link was trapped in his wolf form. Carrying the wheezing, gasping Midna in a desperate race for her life, the scene is accompanied by appropriately emotional music: “Midna’s Lament.” A beautiful and haunting piano theme, it also lends itself quite well to covers, like what we have for you today.

This cover of “Midna’s Lament” comes from Kyle Landry, and, well, it speaks for itself. Give it a listen and let us know in the comments below what you think, and what scene in a Zelda game was the most emotionally affecting for you.
