Gossip Stone: Blood Relations In The Zelda Series

Hey all and welcome to the latest edition of Gossip Stone! Today, my main focus is the idea of having direct blood relations in the Zelda series. As far as I can remember there have been no direct blood relations between Zelda protagonists, so today let’s get an idea of what it could be like.

To start things off, let’s talk about direct blood relations between Links. I believe the only ones with blood relations are the Hero of Time and the Hero of Twilight and even then we don’t know exactly how closely or distantly they are related. What I want to focus on is of one Link having another Link as a father with the former obviously being named after the latter. I don’t think the Hero of Time and the Hero of Twilight are this closely related, so that rules out the only possible father son relationship in the whole series. If you take the time to think about it, there are so many possible plot paths Nintendo could take. For instance, Nintendo make a new Zelda game. A year or so later they release a direct sequel and the Link in this game is the son of the Link from the last game. The evil that Link sealed in the previous game could become free and come after him leaving his son a quest to rescue his father. That’s only one of the many possible story-line options.
Now that we’ve talked about Link, let’s move onto Zelda. I’m pretty sure that most Zeldas are related in one way or another but forgive me if I’m wrong. Now I have less to say when it comes to her but I think I will go over a possible plot line. At the end of the Zelda game I just made up, Link gets married to the Zelda of that game. Zelda gives birth to twins and names them after their parents. One day, the great evil becomes free from his bindings and infiltrates the castle where the family live. Both Zeldas are kidnapped and both Links get to embark on a quest to end the evil and free the two princesses. This could also be the introduction of a new form of Zelda gameplay where the player controls both Links. Of course I’m not a game developer so I haven’t got a clue how they would do that but at least it’s an interesting idea.
