The artstyle of Link’s Awakening for Switch lends itself easily to creative projects, especially dioramas. Adam of North of the Border Craftworks recognized this potential and acted on it. In an accessible, humorous video he shows viewers how to craft a diorama of Marin and Tarin’s house, as well as a mini-Link and cucco to go along with it. If you’re looking for a new project, consider making a little Link’s Awakening house of your own!

This diorama is a little more involved than it might seem at first glance, but the video lays out the steps so clearly that this could end up being a very meditative multi-night project. For anyone interested in trying out this DIY, here’s what you’ll need:

  • XPS Foam (2mm, 3mm, 5mm)
  • Stir Sticks
  • Chip Board
  • Polymer Clay (colored Fimo)
  • Aluminium Sheet
  • Dowel (or handles broken off from paint brushes)
  • Craft paints
  • Vallejo Game Colours
  • Makeup brushes

If you enjoyed this video and would like more project ideas from North of the Border, Adan has builds inspired by movies and books, as well as more from games including Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, Hearthstone, God of War, Skyrim, Stardew Valley, and others from Zelda. Don’t have time to craft these dioramas but want to call one your own? Well, North of the Border sells each of its projects, just contact notbcraftworks@gmail.com for details.
