LinkWe have seen on several occasions that Nintendo like to give nods to various other franchises in games. Link’s Awakening had Chain Chomps from the Mario games in them, Kirby has met up with Samus from the Metroid series and that’s not even scratching the surface of some of the cross overs that have happened over the years. Game Theory even did a video where they showed most game universes were connected due to how many different cameos there were. Now, some eagle eyed people have spotted a tent in Animal Crossing: New Leaf that looks remarkably similar to one in A Link Between Worlds.

Take the jump and judge for yourself!

Though I haven’t played any of the Animal Crossing games I recently finished A Link Between Worlds so I recognized the fortune teller hut straight away. I never needed his advise but wondered in the occasionally anyway mainly because I forgot what was in there. The inside of the tent looks remarkably similar to the one that has appeared in Animal Crossing games, including New Leaf:

It’s the pattern on the floor that is remarkably similar in both games. There are a few changes, like the inner circle in A Link Between Worlds has squares and circles whereas New Leaf has symbols but the star in the middle is almost identicle, save for a slight colour variation.

Coincidence? Possibly. The developers being lazy and reusing textures? Most likely but it gets even more intriguing when we delve deeper into the hidden reaches of the room. Take a look at the hanging behind Katrina, the fortune teller in New Leaf. It looks like there’s an eye on the hanging which looks remarkably like the eye on the Sheikah Stones that are found in various Zelda games.

What’s even more interesting is what is hidden behind Katrina. If we were able to see things from a different angle so she wasn’t in the way and removed all the clutter we would see this:

Look really closely at what’s hanging behind her. Look familiar:

force

Not only does this give us a better look at the eye that resembles a Sheikah Stone eye but we can also see what is clearly a Triforce underneath. Comparing all these images with the in game screen shot at the top, we can see that it is certainly the Trifoce that she is standing in front of. The image from A Link Between Worlds is at the wrong angle and there’s too much clutter to see whether the same hanging is used at the back but, considering how similar the rest of the room is, I like to think it is there just waiting for someone to discover.

Did you notice this? Have you seen any other strange occurrences of textures being used in multiple games? Do you think things like this are fun things to discover or just laziness on the part of the developers?
