Over the last few months, we’ve seen some rather impressive fan recreations of classic Zelda titles. From
The goal of Delmar’s “The Legend of Zelda Project” is to completely recreate the NES classic The Legend of Zelda in 3D using the Unity engine. Taking inspiration from artwork in the original game’s manual, various forms of fan art, and other Zelda media, the project aims produce a realistic game world that still remains true to the Zelda magic we remember from the NES.
Since its announcement last month, the project has focused on such things as initial modeling, textures, and map construction. So far, Delmar has provided some images of the areas already worked on compared to their counterparts in the original game, giving us a good idea of the look the project hopes to accomplish. Delmar has also showed off some screens with a Link model, so we can see how our beloved hero will look as he explores the game’s overworld.
With the launch taking place only a month ago, the project is clearly in the early stages of development. But considering all the progress Delmar has made in the last 30 days, we’re hopeful that the project will culminate into something truly magical.
