Fan Proposes to Girlfriend With NES Zelda Rom Hack

We’ve reported on a couple of The Legend of Zelda themed wedding stories this year, from a wedding held at a GameStop to an amazing engagement ring chest, and now we’ve got news on one of the most awesome engagements ever.

A post by Imgur user jadowdl details his extravagant story, the process itself taking him around a month of work. This includes how he altered some of the in-game sprites to resemble his now fiancée and also tells of the more difficult aspect of altering the games code itself.

When the big day came, he had to quietly switch out the original games cartridge while she wasn’t looking. They did a complete run of the game in six hours, and she didn’t suspect a thing until the final screen: the end game text was replaced with the proposal.
