Stop me if you’ve heard this one: you’ve been running in circles for hours, it seems, stuck in the next dungeon on your list to completing the latest Zelda game, and you have a moment of clarity. Was that a switch on that wall two rooms back? You return, and sure enough, the solution to the puzzle was hiding in plain sight. You shoot the target with your bow, and the most wonderful sound you’ve ever heard enters your ears. This sound, as all Zelda fans are aware, is the jingle that plays whenever you solve one of the numerous puzzles that the franchise is known for. It’s only a few seconds long and simplistic in nature, but there are few things more satisfying to hear, especially during times previously mentioned.

But what if it wasn’t a few seconds long? And what if it wasn’t so simple? What if this “Secret Sound” were able to retain its signature chimes but become something more? GLASYS must have asked themselves these questions because they’ve taken the long-cherished jingle and created something truly special out of it. In a very detailed video, GLASYS goes over the process that they undertook to convert the chime into a more elaborate piece. Even for someone that’s not even remotely as educated in the ways of making music, it was very interesting and informative to follow. The results are amazing, and this has already become one of my favorite Zelda fan projects to date.
