Non-Zelda Game Using the Deku Shield?

Within a recent game by EA titled Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning there are a couple enemies encountered within the forest that bear a symbol that might just be familiar to Zelda fans. The enemies called Boggarts wear a curious wooden mask on their faces with a painted swirl upon it that somewhat resembles the Kokiri symbol of Ocarina of Time. A little more closely they could be said to resemble the Deku Shield with the red design on a wooden piece.

I will admit, the hand painted red swirl on a wooden plank does resemble the Kokiri shield somewhat. However the swirl design is pretty common and it is missing the little arm at the bottom that the Kokiri symbol contains. It is an interesting observation however. I would not be too surprised to hear that there was at least some inspiration drawn from the Kokiri shield in some way.
