I think the mark of a truly excellent melody lies in its ability to be transformed. With different instrumentation, octaves, and rhythm, songs can be completely reimagined into something new and just as equally beautiful to listen to. “Dragon Roost Island” is an example of that sort of melody: whether it has flavors of flamenco, or it features a slower, more quiet, and more ambient tune, “Dragon Roost Island” continues to impress me with the different forms it can take. This includes the epic Celtic Zelda cover by Tim de Man – Game Music.

Last year, Tim de Man – Game Music completed Hyrule Highlands, an album featuring epic covers of Zelda music with a Celtic spin. “Dragon Roost Island” was recently added to YouTube individually, and the rest of the album is available on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and more. I’m tempted to go pick up this album myself. “Dragon Roost Island” is an excellent showcase of what a Celtic cover of a Zelda song sounds like: with epic vocals, beautiful accordion, and flute, this track is a joy to listen to.
