You may have never heard of a “zine”, but would you read a small, unofficial magazine with Zelda-themed art, snippets of literature or comics whilst raising money for a good cause? That pretty much is a Zelda zine.

Originally, zines were small printed publications, cheaply produced, with fewer than five hundred copies per issue. Something put together by volunteers and like-minded souls that wanted to share their passion with the local neighborhood. Nowadays, would-be zine makers can rally the cry for applications from Zelda content creators across the entire globe.  Zines can be downloaded in electronic form, but I have seen some gorgeous printed zines that are more like works of art. Appreciative readers on the other side of the world can tell a lot of love and effort has gone into them.

Some Zelda zines like to focus on one aspect, such as food or fashions from Breath of the Wild. Others prefer to showcase artwork in a variety of styles based upon a theme or even a specific character from The Legend of Zelda. The quality of zines can vary, but personally, I have supported Zelda zines by buying a copy. It’s intriguing to follow the whole process of watching a zine come to life. It can be a long, difficult journey and not everyone makes it. But for those that do, you can’t help but get swept along in their excitement when they reach the finish line!

So, would you support a Zelda zine? Maybe you prefer official publications? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
