Daily Debate: Who Really Was Kass’ Teacher?
Posted on March 05 2020 by Heather Beard
Breath of the Wild gives a wide variety of supporting characters, but one seems to pop up far more often than others; Kass. Kass is a traveling Rito bard who sings songs of legends, heroes, and shrines. In many of his songs he mentions his teacher, but we are never given much indication as to who his teacher is. So, who really was Kass’s teacher?
I like to think that Kass’s teacher has long since passed. Kass often talks about him in the past tense and, often with bards who sing of legends, the stories are passed down from person to person. Each story becomes unique from one storyteller to the next. Although we are given a tiny hint of who Kass’s teacher was, their true identity is still unknown. If you speak to Kass at night, he reveals that his teacher was a Sheikah poet who lived in Hyrule Castle and had a close relationship with Zelda. One immediate thought that comes to mind is that this might be Impa, but Impa is still alive. My theory is that his teacher has passed away. The Sheikah race had dwindled since the Calamity, so one can only wonder who the identity of Kass’s teacher really is. There is also no other record of his teacher other than what Kass reveals to you throughout the game. It definitely is a mystery.
