In celebration of the release of Link’s Awakening on Switch, this Daily Debate takes us back to the Game Boy Color release from 1998. Link’s Awakening DX included updated color graphics, compatibility with the Game Boy Printer, and a new color-based dungeon. I have very fond memories playing this game on the train to and from work during the summer holidays. The prospect of a new dungeon with the color-based puzzles and enemies was intriguing and it really took advantage of the new technology at the time. I remember quite happily jumping around on the squares, changing the colors around, even if this didn’t advance any actual puzzles!

After the boss fight against Giant Hardhat Beetle (or D. Poon as some may recall) you can visit a fairy who will change the color of your tunic. Now, here lies the debate: which colored tunic did you choose? The red tunic gave you greater offensive power but the blue tunic boosted your defense. My personal favorite was the blue tunic because my hits weren’t always accurate! But luckily, if you ever changed your mind, you could always return to the dungeon and switch back.

So, can you remember which tunic you chose first and why? Did you ever try to use the tunic glitch to return to the green tunic? Share your thoughts on this debate in the comments below!
