What if there was supposed to be only one, true timeline? That when the split occurred in Ocarina of Time, the very fabric of reality was fractured. The Hero of Time became a pebble dropped into the time-stream, sending ripples coursing outward. These ripples build in momentum the further they are carried, turning from rolling waves to a tsunami wall that threatens existence itself. They go forward and backward through each age that was or ever will be, destroying all until nothing remains. Sounds to me like reality is in desperate need of a hero. Fortunately, the Zelda universe has an abundance of heroes.

This also sounds like the premise for a great video game. Now, picture this. You, as the player, are the great observer of the timeline. You have witnessed many a hero’s trial throughout the ages, watching Link overcome his struggles again and again. This is a call to action, existence is on the brink of annihilation. You must pull from the time-stream a party of heroes to undo the damage that has been done. Who do you choose?

Will it be a team packed with various iterations of Links? Or, do you add in Zelda or one of the NPCs who possesses a specific, useful skill? Since all of reality is crumbling, would Ganondorf put aside his differences and help out, knowing that his goals will never come to fruition without a world to conquer.

And, once you pick your team, what plan of action will you concoct in order to win? Would you pull a time heist? Go back and assassinate the Hero of Time before he can cause the split? Whatever you do, be mindful of the repercussions. Your mission is to save reality, not make it worse.

The ages are washing away. Even as I type these words, I can feel the ripples trying to erase me from existence. How will you fix time? Please let us know in the comments below before its too late…
