Daily Debate: What Do You Think is Next for the Zelda Series?

I’m not one to read the comments on the articles that I write, but I came across one that took me by surprise, and then I saw a similar take one day while scrolling Twitter. Some Zelda fans are already “over” the hype of Tears of the Kingdom and are ready for whatever will be next. Personally I’m not over the hype, I’m just anxious for May, but there are some out there that are just tired and ready for something different. So, what do you think is next for the Zelda series?
Right now there is no answer to this question. We don’t know what’s next after Tears of the Kingdom. Maybe some DLC for the game, but that’s it. The future is open. I would like to believe that Tears of the Kingdom will be the last major Zelda release on the Nintendo Switch. As of writing this article the Nintendo Switch is celebrating its 6th birthday. That’s a really long cycle for a console. Sure we’ve had the Lite and the OLED models, but we have yet to see a more powerful Switch be unveiled. Nintendo probably has something up their sleeve, but who knows when we’ll see what’s next as far as consoles go.
As for Zelda, I don’t know. I haven’t been able to think that far ahead, and I haven’t really had much of a desire to think that far ahead. If anything I’d love to see a remake of the original game, The Legend of Zelda in the style of the new Link’s Awakening, but that’s really my only opinion. I’m enjoying riding the Tears of the Kingdom wave for now. What’s next can come later.
