Now that Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity has been out for a few months I think that it is time to discuss Calamity Ganon in full – the final boss and the playable character. I have a few things I’d like to bring up so let’s just dive right in!

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity takes a rewind to one hundred years prior to the events of Breath of the Wild. As you progress through the story and familiar locales of Hyrule you eventually encounter a form of Calamity Ganon – Harbinger Ganon. The final boss fight of the game was quite entertaining and a little hard if you chose to play alone and if you were underpowered. Harbinger Ganon felt extremely reminiscent of the Calamity Ganon from Breath of the Wild so it was a nice nod to that character design. Once Harbinger Ganon absorbs Astor and takes the form of the true Calamity Ganon then things change. Personally, I felt that the true form of Calamity Ganon was not as daunting as the original from Breath of the Wild, by original I mean the scary boss that looked like a Guardian spider. Though I did enjoy his second form fight far more than Dark Beast Ganon in Breath of the Wild. I actually felt like I was fighting something far more beastly. The final boss fight felt extremely rewarding and in my opinion it was a good final boss fight.

As far as playing as Calamity Ganon I think that the challenges to unlock him are well worth the reward. The challenges feature the Blight Ganons, whos design also differs from the original source material. Calamity Ganon is a lot smaller than his final boss counterpart, but he is a fun character to play with! I love that we have the chance to use him as a character much like how we get to play with Ganondorf in the original Hyrule Warriors game. Calamity Ganon’s move set is unique in it’s own right and powering through enemies with malice is quite the fun experience. Though he is not my favorite character to play with he is definitely worth unlocking and powering up.

What did you think of Calamity Ganon from Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity? Was the final boss hard, and was unlocking him worth the time and effort? Let us know in the comments below.
