“Yahaha! You found me!” The Koroks. Love them or hate them, they’re stinking adorable. The Koroks first appearance was in The Wind Waker when Link enters Forest Haven. The spirits of the forest played a pivotal part of the main quest line in The Wind Waker, but it wasn’t until Breath of the Wild that we would see them again. You could say that the Koroks play a minor role in Breath of the Wild, but they are still a fun aspect of the game. Collecting 900 Korok seeds is a daunting task, and may be less desirable once you know what the reward is, but it adds a bit of fun to the open world environment. Should they become a major species though?

In my opinion, yes, and here’s why; I enjoyed the fact that they just weren’t “there.” They weren’t oddly placed creatures that played no real purpose. Also, the lore behind them is interesting. Via Zelda Dungeon Wiki:

“Koroks reside in Forest Haven, where they are protected by the Great Deku Tree. Koroks are the descendants of the Kokiri and have developed wooden bodies over time, as well as the ability to fly with the usage of Deku leaves.”

“The Great Deku Tree often refers to them as his children. This is a very similar relationship to that of which the old Great Deku Tree had with the Kokiri in Ocarina of Time. It is notable that now the Koroks are allowed to leave the Forest Haven, whereas they were never to leave the Kokiri Forest in their humanoid form.”

And finally, they’re just too cute. They really are, and we all have a favorite variant of these cuties, don’t deny it.

But what do you think? Should the Koroks play a more major role as a species? Sound off in the comments!
