Daily Debate: How Would Hyrule Celebrate Christmas?

Merry Christmas everyone! I hope that everyone has an enjoyable holiday with their friends, families and loved ones. This year may look a little different from Christmases past, but I hope it is enjoyable none the less. Now for a fun Christmas question, how would Hyrule celebrate Christmas?

We don’t know very much about different celebrations that Hylians have, but I would imagine that they celebrate some kind of winter holiday or festival. If Hyrule were to celebrate Christmas I would think that every race in Hyrule would have different traditions and activities. I could see the Hylians having a grand fest, surrounded by family and their closest. I could see the Royal Family decorating a large tree in a regal fashion, and that Castle Town would be decorated with lights and decorations. People would travel far and wide to see Castle Town decorated for the holiday. It would be a festival of family and giving, much like how we celebrate Christmas today. It would also be a time to thank Hylia for the grand blessings of the year.

I could see the people of the Zora utilizing luminous stones to light up the entire Domain! The Zora would feast and rejoice in their people coming together to celebrate the festive season. The Domain being lit up for the holiday would be the highlight of everyone’s celebration. Even other nations would travel to view Zora’s Domain lit up. The Gorons would, of course, have a grand feast with the finest rock roast, and they would celebrate the bonds of brotherhood. The Rito would maybe hold a special archery competition and celebrate with music. Since I am basing this on the Hyrule in Breath of the Wild I would imagine that Kass would lead his people in a special song to commemorate the holiday. And finally the Gerudo would band together and give handmade gifts to each other from their finest craftswomen. The races far and wide would celebrate in their own unique ways. The holiday might not be called “Christmas” but it would be a season of togetherness and giving. It would be a holiday that would bring the entire nation together.

Christmas is personally my favorite holiday, and I love imagining how Hyrule would celebrate Christmas. For me it’s always been a holiday where I’m surrounded by the people that I love.
