Chill Out With This Relaxing “Stone Tower Temple” Remix

One of the most wonderful things about music is the medium’s flexibility and malleability. A song’s identity can change with an adjustment to the instrumentation used, the tempo, or the length of the song. Since The Legend of Zelda has a massive list of iconic songs, the music of the series is ripe for reinterpretation and transformation.
This remix/re-imagining of “Stone Temple Tower” by Mewmore is a great example of how the choices made by a musician can change the identity of a tune. The original “Stone Temple Tower” in Majora’s Mask has a ghostly sinister mood. The song has a sense of foreboding which is created by its methodical tempo, its constant thrumming percussion, and the tone of the MIDI sounds.
In contrast to the original, this re-imagining by Mewmore contains a much lighter tone than the foreboding original. The song opens with the clear notes of a piano and then adds a steady percussion to the background. The melody of the piece seems to be provided by some type of electronic organ. Overall, the entire piece has a soothing, melodic tone. The entire piece feels like a perfect choice for a quiet rainy day.
