Majora’s Mask has some of the most intriguing locations in the entire Zelda series. While Clock Town is the most iconic location, the game also includes four sprawling and atmospheric dungeons that challenge the player’s skills. The best of these four dungeons is Stone Tower Temple, a physics-bending structure that forces the player to use all of the tools at their disposal. In fact, Zelda Dungeon ranked Stone Tower Temple 5th in our ranking of the top 50 dungeons in the Zelda Series.
This “Stone Tower Temple” cover by Run On Music does a great job of capturing the mysterious and haunting tone of the original piece. Overall, the choice of instruments for this song is great, and it feels like a very effective and enjoyable orchestration of the original song. This rearrangement uses a variety of instruments including classical guitar, mandolin, tambourine, and a hand drum. The cello and percussion drive the song forward with a steady and rhythmic baseline, while the guitar and mandolin attack the melody.
One of the coolest things about this cover is the way Run On Music lays mirrors upside down on the ground and edits the percussion performances into two of the mirrors. This is extremely fitting for the dungeon since one of its major design ideas revolves around flipping the temple upside down.
