Check Out This Quirky “Outset Island” Rendition On Otamatone and Violin
Posted on August 07 2018 by Sean Gadus
Everybody needs a place to take a break before setting out on a long adventure.
This cover of “Outset Island” by mklachu captures the idyllic and cheerful tone of Link’s island home from The Wind Waker while providing that period of respite for the listener. Using a violin and otamatone, which is a Japanese synthesizer shaped like an eighth note or tadpole. The instrument pairing is a simple but effective. Along with the joyful music, the video includes footage of Link from the early moments of The Wind Waker as he explores the peaceful island. It’s pretty hard to stay serious while watching the video, as there are a series of strange puppet heads mounted on the otamatone as it is being played.
