The Canadian Game Awards, a celebration of Canada’s spot on the world stage as a leader in video game entertainment and development, hosted its inaugural event on Friday September 18th. Several great Canada-based studios took home gold during the show, but it was the big award that caught Zelda fans’ attention. Game of the Year is always a large category in any video game award show, which is why it’s so impressive that Cadence of Hyrule has won game of the year!

Cadence of Hyrule beat out out other high-profile 2019 titles like Luigi’s Mansion 3, Far Cry New Dawn, and Gears 5. The game was also recognized by the award committee for Console Game of the Year and Best Game Design too! You can see all the nominees and winners of every category here.

Cadence of Hyrule, developed by Canadian developer Brace Yourself Games, released on the Switch eShop last summer as a Zelda spin-off based upon Brace Yourself Games’ Crypt of the NecroDancer. The game features remixed music from popular Zelda games, many Zelda characters and enemies, and a lot more Legend of Zelda charm. Cadence of Hyrule is definitely an indie title worth checking out if you have not already! Cadence of Hyrule is receiving new story DLC and a physical release later in the year, so there is no better time than to try this wonderful title out!

Congrats to Cadence of Hyrule for its awards from The Canadian Game Awards! Have you played Cadence of Hyrule? Tell us how you feel about the game in the comments below!
