Baseball in Zelda

In a series where mini-games are so common, why not play baseball? A favorite pastime of both America and Japan, it almost seems odd to me that it took this long to be put in the game.
Of course, we all remember the Treasure Field, or digging game, that appeared first in A Link to the Past. I hope this baseball game in A Link Between Worlds can bring back that rushed excitement, just in batting form. Hit the jump to see some pictures of the new addition!
Officially the game seems to be called Octoball Derby, after the baseball competition: home run derby.
It seems that a Deku stick is your bat, and an octorok pitcher supplies the ball. The aim is to shatter jars and knock over anything walking around in the field.
Mini-games in the Zelda series always serve as great way to break up the adventure, whether that be digging, fishing, or goat-herding, mini-games have always had their place in the franchise. Even in the very first game, where you could put your hard earned rupees on the line in a game of chance. I’m glad to see new games implemented in A Link Between Worlds.
