Greetings and welcome to another Artists of Legend!

Dragons. These mythical beasties capture our imaginations and make any video game instantly feel cooler and more epic. Last month, I challenged our artists to share some draconian work. And our artists rose to the occasion! Rose? Get it? Because dragons fly?

Whelp, thank Hylia you’re not here for my awful dad jokes.

Now, let’s look at some art!

Sibling duo powerhouse AriLuci submitted a whopping six illustrations this month! Here, I’ll feature three of them, but please check out last month’s comment section to view them all!

Legend of Glowplug gave us these two drawings last month!

Finally, one more piece from around the Internet! Behold this ode to dragons by Joshanotherartist on Instagram:

Thank you again to everyone who summitted in July. You are all amazing and I can’t wait to see more work from you!

What are Artists of Legend Challenges?

As creatives, sometimes the ideas flow to us freely. Other times, we need a prompt to get those gears moving. Artists of Legend challenges are intended to be a fun and relaxing way to engage with your craft through Zelda inspired themes. If you have ever followed along or participated in Linktober, it’s a very similar idea. Some of our past themes include a focus on specific games. Or general themes such as flying, flora, and fauna.

AoL challenges are monthly. The theme is posted on the first Friday of each month, with the submission deadline being the final Friday of that same month. While creating a new work for each month’s challenge is highly encouraged, it is not necessary. For example, if the theme of the month is flowers and you’re a cosplayer with a killer Deku Princess ready to go, there is no need to recreate your work. Simply submit it so we can all geek out about your lovely work!

Most importantly, AoL is for everyone. There is no such thing as bad art here and no one is to young or old to share their artistic journey. In similar fashion, cosplay is for everyone. Unnecessarily rude or overly critical in the comments will not be tolerated.

Cool! Any Other Rules I Should Know?

Yes, and thanks for asking!

  • All forms of art are accepted. This means you can submit your best drawings, cosplay, crochet work, metallurgy–whatever your craft is!
  • All art, of all skill levels is welcome here. But, your work should be clear and easy to see. When taking photos of your work, please make sure they’re in focus and centered with minimal clutter around the image. We want to see your work, not desk clutter!
  • Keep your submissions family friendly. The children are watching, after all.
  • Stick to the prompt as best you can, but feel free to get creative with it!
  • Art theft will not be tolerated.
  • You, as the artist, retain full rights to your work! We make no claims to it, and are eternally grateful that you let us share it.
  • Submitting to Artists of Legend does not guarantee your work will be shown. We withhold the right to not post your submission based off (but not limited to), adherence to the theme, clarity of the image, or suggestive content.

How Do I Submit?

Submitting is easy! Choose the method below that works best for you:

  • Post your work to Twitter or Instagram with #artistsoflegend
  • Submit your work directly to the comments section below!
  • Join our Discord server and submit to the pics and artwork channel.

Your September Challenge:

The end of August means it’s time for fall! Temperatures in your area are (hopefully) dropping. The first few leaves of season are lazily drifting down, while the world in bathed in a golden light.

To celebrate this transition, September’s theme is autumn. I hope to see some cozy and colorful work!

You have until September 24 to submit! Remember to have fun, and stay safe out there.
