Skyward Sword is on all of our minds again following its recent release on the Switch. This rang true for Adam from North of the Border Craftworks, who channeled his anticipatory energy into meticulously recreating Skyloft in miniature form for his Tiny Nerdy Thing series. In his step-by-step video of the creation process, Adam demonstrates every tiny detail that went into making this impressive little sculpture. Those looking for a new art project or simply want to admire the art of crafting should check out Adam’s work on this scale-model of Skyloft.

The video begins with cutting out the foam of the floating island’s base before painting most of it in and using clay, wood, or resin to fill in smaller details. I for one love miniatures, and one like this is particularly fun because you can hold an entire community in your hands. If you feel inspired to make this sculpture, you will need the following:

  • Stir Sticks
  • UV Resin
  • Mod Podge (Gloss)
  • Mod Podge (Matte)
  • Tacky Glue
  • CA Glue (Super Glue)
  • Chipboard
  • Armature Wire
  • Clay
  • Paint
  • XPS Foam
  • Hole Filler
  • Sculpting Tools
  • Silicon Tools
  • Stabbing Tools
  • Pasta Maker
  • Airbrush
  • Compressor

If you enjoyed this video and would like more project ideas from North of the Border, Adam has builds inspired by movies and books, as well as more from games including Horizon Zero Dawn, Death Stranding, Hearthstone, God of War, Skyrim, Stardew Valley, and others from Zelda. North of the Border also sells each of its projects, inquire at

What do you think of this Skyward Sword craft? Are there any other elements from the game you would like to see Adam sculpt? Share your thoughts in the comments!
