Zelda-Like Indie Title “The Plucky Squire” Gets A Gameplay Trailer
Posted on May 25 2023 by Rod Lloyd
The Plucky Squire, one of the most promising Zelda-like adventures due out this year, was featured during yesterday’s PlayStation Showcase in the form of a new gameplay trailer. The brief teaser, since uploaded to publisher Devolver Digital’s YouTube channel, introduces us to the game’s assorted heroes and villains, as well as the storybook-inspired world these characters inhabit. Most importantly, however, the trailer demonstrates The Plucky Squire‘s unique blend of 2D and 3D gameplay, as players will be able to escape the pages of the storybook to explore in an entirely new dimension.
The Plucky Squire (developed by All Possible Futures and published by Devolver Digital) was first unveiled during Devolver Digital’s 2022 Showcase last year. The game’s charming storybook aesthetic and Link’s Awakening-esque gameplay were immediate draws for The Legend of Zelda fans. The project was shown to be in good hands too. Developer All Possible Futures was co-founded by James Turner, who previously served as Pokémon Sword & Shield‘s art director.
The Plucky Squire is scheduled to release later this year for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S/X.
From what we’ve seen so far, The Plucky Squire looks absolutely incredible. Don’t you agree? Do you plan to play the game when it releases later this year? Let us know in the comments below!
