Zelda-Like The Plucky Squire Announced for Nintendo Switch

Swords? Zelda-esque gameplay mixed with Toy Story? Mike Tyson’s Punch-Out!! ? Yes, The Plucky Squire seems to have it all. Presented at the Devolver Digital 2022 Showcase, Nintendo’s trailer for The Plucky Squire reveals a vibrant world with a unique mixture of 2D and 3D gameplay.

Developed by All Possible Futures, the game highlights a new hero, Jot, who initially traverses unique lands in a storybook fashion. The trailer jumps out of the 2D page and takes our hero into the 3D world, facing enemies scattered around a child’s bedroom. This game reminds me of a colorful mixture of the remake to Link’s Awakening and a bit of Pikmin. Jot’s journey through different artwork styles and gameplay types feels like a breath of fresh air for Nintendo while giving the gaming community a semblance of familiarity.
