Stained glass windows are some of the most inspiring pieces of art in the world. They are incredibly intricate and often use contrasting colors to bring scenes and symbols to life. Across history, there are a variety of famous stained glass windows that inspire joy and awe. This beautiful type of art has even found its way into the Legend of Zelda series. The chamber containing the Master Sword in The Wind Waker, for example, contains seven ornate stained glass windows which depict Ocarina of Time‘s Sages and Ganon’s final form from the 1998 game.
If you desire a Zelda art piece that takes inspiration from stained glass windows, these vivid pieces from Etsy shop Luminous Fanart should pique your interest. Referred to as “suncatcher glass” or “faux stained glass,” these pieces stand out from the wealth of Zelda products across Etsy. Each piece comes in relatively small sizes, either 5 by 7 inches or 8 by 11 inches. In terms of Zelda pieces, there are five designs available. These include designs based on the Majora’s Mask 3D key art, the Sheikah Symbol, Breath of the Wild‘s North American box art, and two designs based around the Hylian Shield.
Overall, the template used to created each piece is a mix of hand-drawn art and digital editing. From there, ink is applied to acetate sheets, which are layered between two pieces of glass. The combination of the layers of acetate sheets and glass create the final image. Finally, the glass is sealed in a frame. Despite their small size, these pieces truly pop when placed on the wall, and the vivid colors can brighten any room or window.
If you are interested in these pieces as a holiday gift, I recommend looking into the pieces as soon as you can. Each pieces is made to order, and many shops experience increased traffic and interest during the holiday season. The 5 by 7 inch pieces sell for $34.50 USD, while the 8 by 11 inch pieces sell for $50 USD.
