Daily Debate: Does the Zelda Manga Enhance Your Thoughts on the Game Its Based Off Of?
Posted on July 04 2020 by Heather Beard
I recently started reading the Zelda manga. So far I’ve been loving what I’m reading and I’ve been extremely impressed with the style of art, how it’s presented, and the enhancements on the story. I’ve read the manga adaptation of Ocarina of Time, and I am currently reading Twilight Princess. As I’ve been reading through Twilight Princess I kept thinking how much more I feel the manga enhances the game. So does reading the Zelda manga enhance your thoughts on the game it’s based off of?
Personally it does for me. I have played both Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess and reading the manga just made me appreciate the games more. Twilight Princess especially – I feel like the way the story has been written for print is only enhancing the original Twilight Princess story that we were introduced to in the game. I feel like the Zelda manga gives us a bit more of an in-depth look at the stories from the Zelda games that we love! I also like the fact that there’s manga of Zelda games I have yet to play. I look forward to getting my hands on the Four Swords manga! I don’t think that the manga can replace the game though so there is that one negative that I’ve found for the manga. I do feel like the manga makes me a little nostalgic for the games, it’s like getting to relive the game for the first time again, but in a different format. I almost wish that there was a manga version of every Zelda game, but I know that that is a tall order to fill. One can dream though!
So, what do you think? Does the Zelda manga enhance your opinion on the game it’s based off of? Sound off in the comments below!
