Daily Debate: If You Could Add a Mechanic from Another Game Into the Zelda Series, What Would It Be?
Posted on January 22 2020 by Heather Beard
At some point, almost everyone has wondered what their favorite game would be like with the mechanics of another game mashed inside. In fact, people have modded popular games in order to insert some crazy, cool stuff within! So what mechanic from another game would you like to be included in your favorite Zelda game?
I can’t take credit for this idea because my husband came up with it, so for fun I’ll include his and then add mine. He said Breath of the Wild with the sandbox functionality of Minecraft. For those who don’t know, Minecraft is a huge open world sandbox game, and I can only imagine how vast Hyrule would have to be in order to support that type of mechanic. It would make Breath of the Wild even more fun though! I imagine there would be far more resources than Link currently has at his disposal and you would get to destroy more than just monsters in the over-world.
My personal choice would be the inclusion of some more classic RPG (Role Playing Game) elements, such as skills and abilities. You could even utilize a skill tree which makes Link very unique to the player. I realize this might be a little like skills and experience points from The Adventure of Link but it would be really cool if it was incorporated into Breath of the Wild 2.
What do you think? What mechanics from other games would be cool to see in a Zelda game? Sound off in the comments below!
