Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love Receives a Fan Translation
Posted on January 03 2018 by Rod Lloyd
The lovable and terrifying Tingle is one of the Zelda series’ strangest characters, as well as one of the most pervasive. Beyond appearing in quite a few Zelda titles since his introduction in Majora’s Mask, the vaguely creepy fairy man has also starred in a few games of his own. Freshly-Picked Tingle’s Rosy Rupeeland and Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love released on the Nintendo DS in 2006 and 2009, respectively.
These obtusely titled games never made their way to the United States, but English-speaking fans could still enjoy Rosy Rupeeland via a European version released in 2007. The same could not be said for its sequel, which has remained a Japan exclusive since its release. Luckily for fans hoping to one day check out this Zelda oddity, Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love has recently received an English fan translation.
Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love is a point-and-click adventure game with dating sim elements, as Tingle explores a Wizard of Oz-inspired world and romances various female characters. On December 31, the Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love Translation Project released an unofficial fan translation of Tingle’s second DS adventure. After five years of hard work, this group of dedicated fans has broadened the visibility of an under-appreciated Zelda game by making it playable in new parts of the world.
You can download the latest version of the translation patch right here. You just need a ROM for Ripened Tingle’s Balloon Trip of Love.
The translation group’s next project will be a fan translation of Tingle’s Balloon Fight DS, a Tingle spin-off game and a remake of the NES classic Balloon Fight.
