As many of you already know, Midna, from Twilight Princess, was elected the victor of the ZVS Partner Championship by an overwhelming majority. She received over 2500 votes on the day of the final, while her opponent, The Wind Waker‘s King of Red Lions, received less than half. Midna will always be remembered as possibly the greatest character we’ve ever seen, with her mischievous persona and her thieving, cheating nature. She’s always been the highlight of her game, and her victory will not go unforgotten. If we can consider Majora’s Mask the ultimate Zelda game for it’s heroic victory, then Midna shines even brighter, defeating titans like Medli, Epona, and Fi.

The Delay

Many of you are likely quick to point out how the results of this poll were delayed. I’ll let Nate, our Editor-in-Chief, step in to explain the situation.

Nathanial Rumphol-Janc: First off, I want to extend an open apology to those who have been waiting for our results. Many of you are not aware, but between the period of the championship matchup and the weeks leading up to today, Zelda Informer was going through a massive back end staff change over. Previously, the ZI team and Gamnesia team were one and the same. While many writers do still work on both sites, the staffs themselves have been split up. Zelda Informer now has it’s own dedicated staff area to just write about ZI, and we have even added some ZI only writers. The problem with this, as is the problem with any major staff related change, is some things get lost in the wind.

What I mean to say is, we never intended to delay the announcement. However, with the huge staff turnover and the fact that I, personally, was in charge of running the polls, my slate was full and after some time, it simply slipped my mind. I assure you the delay was not related to any bias people like to accuse us of—something we are used to hearing despite the numerous signs that it isn’t the case. Majora’s Mask announcement when it won was delayed by a day or two as well due to some personal reasons, but this delay just happened at a time when we had more important things to sort out.

Again, I apologize, and we’ll be sure to not let such things happen again in future ZVS related contests. Because of this delay however, we may forgo our intended March Madness tournament. Stay tuned for updates on this in the future.
