GameXplain Analyzes the Hyrule Warriors Direct

While I personally enjoy IGN’s Rewind Theatre, it would be foolish of me to ignore the absolutely fantastic analysis and hypothesizing that the crew over at GameXplain does. This time they have torn apart the Hyrule Warriors Direct to point out various things we might have missed, including the potential of a three way conflict and possibly a small confirmation of a villain story mode. In case you don’t want to watch the entire video, I have provided a full breakdown below.

  • Villains Playable (Zant, Ganondorf, Ghirahim) – Possible Cia and Wizzro too (speculation)
  • Ganondorf shows up initially on a horse (calling back to Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess)
  • However, it seems to be a totally new horse.
  • They ask if it is possible to ride horses and other animals into battle. (Common in Dynasty Warriors games, but hasn’t been shown in footage yet)
  • Ganondorf seems to be a summation of all of his versions, with Twilight Princess being the biggest inspiration. Similar facial features and a crown setup, however the jewel is different. Ganondorf is also wearing earrings, just like in Twilight Princess.
  • Ganondorf’s wardrobe has a lot more color than most of his iterations.
  • Ganondorf’s hair actually mimics his hairstyle when he goes beast mode in Twilight Princess.
  • Ganondorf’s frame seems similar to Demise, but everything else seems to be closer in resemblance to his other appearances.
  • The Gate of Time is on Ganondorf’s chest piece. Might be a sign of all the dimensional time travel elements in the game.
  • Ganondorf can use lightning based attacks. Swords are completely new.
  • One of Ganondorf’s combo moves appears to transform him into a Pig full of dark energy.
  • Zant might have a spin attack that lets him spin around rapidly (speculation)
  • Ghirahim might have been resurrected. (speculation)
  • There might be a Villain story mode. Screenshots show them fighting the “good guys” in a way that makes you feel as though you are controlling them, and Zant and Ghirahim are shown kneeling before Ganondorf. (speculation)
  • Possibility there are three sides to the conflict. Cia, Wizzro, and Valga have not been present with Ghirahim, Zant, and Ganondorf. (speculation)
  • Temple of Souls seems to chronicle Link’s adventures. Ocarina of Time Link, Skyward Sword, and Wolf Link statues are all present. This place also seems to have a connection to the gate of time.
  • Gerudo Desert is confirmed.
