ZVS – Best Zelda Dungeon Tournament – Ancient Tomb (OoA) vs Earth Temple (TWW) – Round 0

Our best Zelda Dungeon tournament, part of the Zelda Versus series, is finally ready to get under way after a two month hiatus. The original plan was to run this tournament through February to wrap up heading into march so by now in April, we’d have our second Zelda Versus tournament of the year under way. While making the actual bracket internally, we ran into several issues creating the images for the bracket that caused a huge delay. In a rush we went to social media seeking help, and thankfully we found that help in a fan named Javier. Unfortunately for us his first language wasn’t English and all communications is over email, so there was a break down in communication and even some misunderstanding, leading to several delays.

I just wanted to get that out front and center – we do not currently have an image guru on staff, so if you want to help us out with Zelda Versus and other such image intensive posts in the future, we’d gladly take some applications to nathan@zeldadungeon.net. Setting that aside, as we set up the bracket it became obvious there wasn’t a clean way to even out both sides of the bracket without having a handful of “play-in” matches. Thus we have four preliminary matchups we’re going to do first before we present the overall finalized bracket. Think of it a bit like the play-in games for the NCAA tournament, except everything was determined at random.

For those who forgot, all the included dungeons from this poll moving forward were decided by you folks back in January of 2015. Each game in the series was allowed to have two included dungeons. Today’s matchup features our first of four in what we are dubbing as Round 0. It pits the Ancient Tomb from Oracle of Ages against the Earth Temple from The Wind Waker. We’ll be running these first four matchups each day from today through Tuesday, hopefully launching the full first round before the end of the week.
