Photoshop Contest: Tampering With Time Travel

Greetings, friends! It feels a little strange posting amidst the news of this fancy new redesign, but ZI’s weekly Photoshop Contest must live on! Throughout the years, the Zelda series has given Link many ways to travel through time. The Ocarina of Time, the Harp of Ages, and Timeshift Stones have all given our hero the power to manipulate the time stream. We’re sure there are yet even more creative opportunities for time travel in the Zelda universe, and your ‘shopping skills are sure to help create them in this week’s contest. Before we start, of course, let’s go back a week and check out the winners from last week’s contest: The Adventures of Purple Link.

For a few specific reasons, Purple Link was left out of Tri Force Heroes. To make up for his absence, contestants depicted the adventures of this purple-clad hero.

Challenge Mode

Inspired by some new sketches by Zelda manga artist Akira Himekawa, last week’s Challenge was to include Shadow Link as Purple Link’s adventure companion. While the other winning entry featured Shadow Link in the background, artist Vheanom showed us a true companionship between Purple Link and Shadow Link. These two characters are placed in a tense scuffle with a ChuChu and a Floormaster, the first in what will certainly be many exciting battles. Vheanom admitted that the time spent ‘shopping this image was limited to just two hours, which is impressive given the lively final product. Great job!

This Week’s Contest: Tampering With Time Travel

Zelda Informer’s exciting new layout and other cultural events has us reflecting on the flow of time, a common theme throughout The Legend of Zelda. With the idea of time taking such an important role in the series, Link himself has been given the power several times to alter history and master fate. But Link shouldn’t be allowed to have all the fun; time travel holds plenty of fun for all of us.

The contest this week is to show the use, misuse, or abuse of time travel in the Zelda universe in your own special way. Maybe you want to show Link (or another character) using a magic time-based item in a creative way, or maybe you want to manipulate the course of history in the Zelda timeline. As long as there’s time travel involved, your Photoshop creations are acceptable. Feel free to use the images in our gallery below or anything else on the net for your entry.

General Rules:

• Submit your entries in the comments section below.
• To save images from the gallery, right click the image in the gallery (without opening the image in lightbox) and select open image in new tab. Go up to the address bar and delete __small from the URL. Hit enter, right click, and save!
• Photoshop is not required to enter the contest. Any image manipulation software can be used to create your entry.
• Please refrain from using offensive material (racial, sexual, overuse of offensive language, etc.) We want to make the contest fun and accessible for fans of all ages.
• Everyone is entitled to their own opinion at Zelda Informer. In fact, we encourage discussion based on those opinions. However, please do not insult other fans’ work. What may be funny to one person may not hold true for another…and that’s OK.
• Have fun and be creative!

Deadline: Submit entries no later than next Wednesday at midnight: 11:59 p.m. PST on October 28. Entries submitted after this Deadline will not be considered.

For those that who want to test their skills with something more challenging, we have a Challenge Rule for you to follow:

1. Your entry must include a flying form of transportation.

If you think you’re up to the challenge, include the phrase Challenge Accepted with your submission. Remember, Challenge Mode submissions follow the same rules and guidelines of the base Photoshop Contest in addition to the Challenge Rules.
