The two best selling

Zelda games meet up in a surprise round one matchup, marking our fifth matchup in five days. While all previous matchups seem to have had a clear winner out the gate, this matchup could have some serious intrigue. Twilight Princess introduced an entirely new generation to the series, while Ocarina of Time is often considered the absolute pinnacle of gaming perfection. Two will enter, but only one will advance.

Twilight Princess (ゼルダの伝説 トワイライトプリンセスZeruda no Densetsu Towairaito Purinsesu)

Released on November 19th 2006 in North America and making it’s way around the world just a month later,

Twilight Princess to this day is regarded as one of the most popular entries in the series to date. Coming off The Wind Waker, Nintendo reminded everyone that the series still has some darkness to it, with Twilight Princess being the only game in series history to feature a T rating. Featuring wolf mechanics, two worlds (a series staple), Zelda in danger, arguably the best sidekick to date (Midna), and a story that becomes so much more than just about yourself, this game looked to bring out the inner Zelda fan for an entirely new generation of gamers.

Ocarina of Time (ゼルダの伝説 時のオカリナZeruda no Densetsu: Toki no Okarina)

Released on November 21st 1998 in Japan,

Ocarina of Time spread across the globe a month later. As the #1 critically acclaimed game of all time by nearly any metric you choose to measure, Ocarina of Time quickly became a cornerstone in gaming history. Successfully bringing Zelda out of the the top down perspective and into a fully engrossing 3D world truly brought the series to life for many a fan. It introduced many new series staples, such as the lock on system and entirely new combat methods.
