- So you have just gotten another Instrument eh? Now before we proceed to our next destination, there are several things we must do first. First of which is to return BowWow. We can get back to Mabe Village without going through Goponga Swamp by heading down one screen, and lifting up the rocks. This is where we got the Piece of Heart earlier. Head two screens left. Now that we have the Power Bracelet, we can lift up rocks. Head down a screen. Lift up the rock in the corner and go down the staircase. Sprinkle some Magic Powder on the little hole and Mad Batter will appear. Say yes twice and he'll let you hold more Magic Powder than you could before, thinking it will be harder for you to carry around "all that junk".
~ Returning To The Village ~
- As you're leaving the forest, you'll come across that treasure chest again that was blocked by a rock before. With the Power Bracelet, lift up the rock and open it. You now
have two Secret Seashells. Exit the forest and go to Madam MeowMeow's house. Go inside and talk to her for a kiss... The game says you're lucky, but what's Link and Madam
MeowMeow's age difference? The higher the worst. Go back into the forest. Remember that cave that lead you to the Toadstool? Go there and get to the part where you had
to move stones to get the Toadstool. Now with the Power Bracelet, lift up the green skulls and grab the Piece of Heart. Leave the cave.
Piece of Heart #4
- Pick up the two green skulls to get your fourth Piece of Heart. They're just too easy in this game eh?
- Now, we have to do some shopping. Go back to Mabe Village. Find the Shop (it's near the Crane Game Shop) and go inside. You should
have about 200+ Rupees by now. Buy the Deluxe Shovel for 200 Rupees, and some Bombs as well. The Bombs are a rupee per piece. If you come in
the Shop again, you'll see the Bow & Arrow for a whopping 980 Rupees! You can save up for it, or steal it, but for the guide's sake we're not going
to steal it. Go to Tail Cave, after this we won't ever have to go back there again.
Deluxe Shovel
- This Deluxe Shovel lets you dig up things from the ground. Sometimes you'll find hearts, Rupees, etc. However in some special
spots you can find things such as Secret Seashells, and other items.
- Bombs have been found in nearly every Zelda game to date. They can destroy enemies, blow up cracked walls, and more. Make
sure you have plenty at all times, because you never know when you're going to use them next.
- On the way to Tail Cave, enter the small dog house at Madam MeowMeow's. Dig in the corner with your new Shovel to get a Secret Seashell.
Proceed to Tail Cave. Refer to the Tail Cave Section for help on getting there
and finding the room incase you forgot. When you get in the room, blow up the cracked wall and open the chest. Leave Tail Cave with the Secret Seashell.
Secret Seashell #3
- I guess the dog buried this one, even though she has no legs.
- Go all the way back to the entrance of Bottle Grotto. I'm pretty sure you know your way around now right? Go east from
the Swamp. There are two paths, I recommend the lower path, it's shorter. The upper path has Moblin Pigs. Go into the Camera Shop. This
Mouse will take pictures of you through out your journey. He'll take a picture of you on the stage. Now he'll leave your album in the Shop,
and you can look at the pictures he has taken of you in it. You can print these out with a Gameboy Printer. I won't really pay much attention
to these since they don't really earn you anything in the game. However, if you want to get them, you can refer to the Photograph Guide for help.
Moblin Pig
Threat
Attacks Arrow Contact
- This is a pig version of a Moblin. Like the regular Moblins, they shoot arrows, and they are believed to be
more common than regular Moblins.
- Our next stop is Kanalet Castle, but before we get going, think about that message for a second.
What could it mean? What is the Wind Fish? Why can't you leave this island without waking him up? You will get
several more clues on this journey, but it will only be revealed at the very end. If this is your first time playing this game,
I would recommend you restrain yourself from spoiling the ending, because you will regret it!
- Go all the way back to Mabe Village (I know, I'm annoying) and head east from the shop. Lift up the rocks, and go up one screen.
Enter the cave. Push the blocks around and avoid the Green Zols. The treasure chest has 50 Rupees in it. Remember, save up for
that Bow, or steal it if you're lazy. Go back down one screen and right one screen. You will see a weird hole. Jump into it and
you'll popup back out. This is a warp hole. When you find another one, go into it and it can teleport you around the island.
Handy huh?
Winged Octorok
Threat
Attacks Contact Rock
- These Octoroks have wings and can jump away from you. If you try to hit them, they will jump away, making it harder to
kill them.
- Go right one screen. These enemies are called Pincers. They come out from holes and try to bite you. If you see a pair of eyes
in a hole then run away from it. Go up, then right. Blow up the cracked wall to reveal a Fairy Fountain, where you can restore your
health. Go down one screen. Blow up the large rock with a Bomb and go up the ladder. Go right one screen, down one screen, left one screen,
down three screens, and left one screen. Go into the house, also known as Richard's Villa.
Pincer
Threat
Attacks Contact
- Pincers hang out in holes around the island and in caves. Not every hole has them, but you can tell by walking up to one,
and if a pair of eyes comes up then that means one will attack you in two seconds.
- Richard will introduce himself. He says that his servants went berserk and locked him out of his Castle (Kanalet Castle). He says
he wants you to break in and get back the five Golden Leaves, in return for the key to Ukuku Prairie, which we need. Say okay and he'll
remind you to buy a Shovel on your way back, which you already have. Leave the Villa. Backtrack until you get back to the area where
we first encountered the Bomber. Head up this time. Follow the orange path. On the fork in the road go up. You are now in front of
Kanalet Castle. Go by the door to get a picture with Richard. Go right two screens.
Secret Seashell #5
- This one is buried in the center of the grass above Key Cavern. Now that you have five, don't get anymore until you get Secret Seashell #6.
- Go down two screens, left one screen, and up one screen. Enter the Seashell Mansion. This is where we will get our reward when we get
20 of these. When you have five of them, it gives you an extra for a bonus. It also does this when you have ten, so we will come back after we have that amount. Leave the Seashell Mansion and go right one screen. Keep cutting the bushes until you found another Secret Seashell, jump off the cliff and go back to Kiki.
-Talk to Kiki the Monkey. Give him the Bananas you've been carrying around all this time. He will call his friends and they will make a bridge for you. A Stick is left behind in the process. Pick it up and go across the bridge. Follow the path until you find a lone bush. Cut it and it will reveal a staircase. Go downstairs. Jump over the spikes and go up the stairs. Fight the Darknut. Go down one screen. Throw a rock at the Crow and it will fly off the tree. Kill it to get Golden Leaf #1. Go down then right one screen. Here is the entrance to the Castle, but we're not going in quite yet. Go right then up one screen. Kill the Mad Bomber for Golden Leaf #2. Now go and enter Kanalet Castle.
Darknut
Threat
Attacks Arrow Contact
- Darknuts hang around Kanalet Castle. They will charge at you and shoot arrows at random, so attack them from behind with a
spin attack before they have a chance to attack.
- Fortunately, there is only one Mad Bomber in the game, and it's here. It comes out of different holes and throws bombs at you
that hurt a lot. Defeating it gives you a Golden Leaf.
- This Castle has a few enemies and no dead-ends. Some of the enemies have leaves, so kill every enemy you possibly can. The Anti-Fairy enemy, sprinkle some Magic Powder on it, and it will turn into a fairy. Remember this for later. Kill all the enemies in this room to get Golden Leaf #3. Proceed through the Castle. Bomb the walls after going up the stairs and kill the Darknut's to get Golden Leaf #4. When you get to a door where it shuts, throw a pot at it with your Power Bracelet. It will open up just like that. This Ball
and Chain Trooper enemy is tough, but a hit jump & run tactic should do the job. Watch out for the cracked floors. Golden Leaf #5 will come out of the Ball and Chain Trooper when defeated. Return to Richard's Villa.
Anti-Fairy
Threat
Attacks Contact
- Sprinkling Magic Powder on these enemies causes fairies to come out. This is very handy, but you can't get the fairy,
leave the room and do it again, the fairy will not come out.
- Richard will thank you, and he'll tell you to push the block to the right. Do so to reveal a staircase. Go down it.
On the fork in the road, take the left path to get a Secret Seashell. After that take the right path and go up the stairs. This is a
small maze with a lot of holes under the bushes. When you get to the end dig in front of the Owl Statue to get the Slime Key. This can
open Key Cavern. Backtrack to the Villa and go outside. Go left after leaving the house. Go up the ladder and walk up to the lock. The door will
open up. Go all the way around Richard's Villa. Jump across the small lake. Enter Key Cavern, dungeon three.
- Don't ask me, I didn't name these dungeons. When you first walk in the door will slam shut. How rude! Throw a pot at it and it will open. Remember this trick for later. Watch out for the Bombites. They ricochet off the walls when you hit them. After all of the enemies are defeated, open the chest to get a Small Key, and go up the hall on the right side of the room.
Bombite [Red]
Threat
Attacks Contact Explosion
- Red Bombites ricochet when you hit them. It's best to use a projectile on them, or jump after they ricochet to stay out of their
paths.
- Defeat the Zols. The chest here is a dud, in other words it has a Zol inside of it. Open it and kill it. Head north.
Defeat the Orange Stalfos and head north again. Go down the staircase to B1. There are four locked doors in each of the four main
directions. Now you probably see why it's called Key Cavern. Anyway, go through the southern door with your only Small Key. Defeat
all of the enemies and a key will appear. Go back up to the previous room.
Pairodd
Threat
Attacks Contact Ninja Star
- Pairodds are bird-like enemies that shoot stars at you. They also tend to teleport whenever you try to attack them, making it
harder for you to kill them.
- Go through the right locked door this time. Go up the stairs. Kill all of the Zols in this room and a Small Key will fall on the tile. Grab it and head north. Now head left. Kill all of the Gels surrounding the Red Zols and go up. Make sure you have plenty of Bombs before you do. These are Dodongo Snakes. Like normal Dodongos, they are invincible from the outside, but are soft on the inside. After you make them eat three bombs, they blow up. By doing this you have opened the shortcut portal. Head right. Push the blocks and open the chest for the Pegasus Boots.
Dodongo Snakes
Threat
Attacks Contact
- Dodongo Snakes are slow and only hurt you by coming in contact with you. You have to make them eat three Bombs, then they will explode and a fairy comes out of them. Make sure you have plenty of Bombs before you face them.
- The Pegasus Boots let you dash, and most of the time crash. You can break through certain objects and do far jumps when the Roc's Feather
is out at the same time.
- Now with your new boots, dash through the green and black stones. Go down one screen, and left two screens. Kill the Pairodds and get the key. Go through the flipping panel. Defeat the enemies in here and a chest will appear high up. Ignore it for now. Go through another flipping panel. Go up the stairs and go south. Open the chest to get 50 Rupees. Head back north. This time take the right path on top of the stairs. This only shows the next rooms, so go back left and then south again to where you just found the 50 Rupees. Push the block down and you'll be back in the room with the four Gels and Red Zols.
- Go right one screen, up one screen, right one screen, and north one screen. These are Green Bombites. When you hit them, their timer will start and in three seconds they will explode. After they die go into the next room and open the chest for the Compass. Bomb the wall on the left wall. Destroy the Red Bombites and a Small Key will fall down on the tile. Go right two screens, and down one screen. Bomb the part of the southern wall with the arrow of tiles facing it. Go through the hole.
Bombite [Green]
Threat
Attacks Contact Explosion
- Green Bombites walk around the room normally, but when you attack them their timers will start. They will also start to follow you when they start ticking. It counts down from 3, 2, 1. Can you
guess what happens when it reaches zero? KABOOM!
- Put your Pegasus Boots on one button and the Roc's Feather on the other. Start dashing and jump right before the pit and you'll jump right across. Go up the stairs. Jump across the small hole and open the chest for the Nightmare's Key. Go all the way back to the room where we fought the Dodongo Snakes. Go through the portal to warp to the entrance of the dungeon. Go right. Now, dash across the path with your boots and charge into the Vacuum.
- This will earn you yet another Small Key. Go back left and go north by throwing a pot at the door. Go throw the left door this time instead of the right one. Kill the Gel and continue. Push the block to get to the other side and go down. Kill the Orange Stalfos and a chest will appear, with a whopping 200 Rupees! Go back up and go down the staircase. Go through the left door this time. Defeat the Pairodds and grab the key. Go back right. Go through the north door this time. Defeat the two enemies in here to get a Small Key. Oh yeah, hit the crystal switch once. Go back south then go back up the staircase. Open the chest next to you to get the Stone Beak. Now, go down two screens, and right one screen. Open the chest for the Dungeon Map. After grabbing it backtrack to the staircase.
- Go back to the dungeon entrance. Use the portal to warp to the room where we fought the Dodongo Snakes. Head down one screen. Unlock the keyhole block. Unlock all of the others along the way and go down the stairs. Dash into the Red Thwomp and it will fall. Do a dash jump to the ladder and kill the Pirahna Plant. Go down the ladder. To make things easier, just charge into the Pairodds with your Sword to kill them faster. Go through the next door. Kill all of the Keese on the moving floor for a Small Key. Prepare to face the boss.
Thwomp [Red]
Threat
Attacks None
- This is the only Red Thwomp in the game, and it does not hurt you. You just charge into it and it will crack and fall.
- The infamous Pirahna Plant from Mario makes its cameo. Like in Super Mario Brothers, they tend to pop in and out of their tubes. One hit on
their heads kills them.
- The battle will start with Slime Eyes mocking you that you can't find him. Zols will be falling from the ceiling. Simply dash into the wall to make him fall down from the ceiling. Keep on smacking him with your Sword until it looks like he's about to split apart. Quickly sword-dash through that and he will split apart into two eyes.
- The rest of the battle just involves you defeating the two eyes. Make sure to jump before they land, or you'll be stunned for a bit. When you're stunned they can attack you easily. Finish the two-on-one battle, and collect the Heart Container. Enter the last room.
Split him into two eyes instead of one!
Just be careful not to get touched!
Summary:
- Start off by dashing into the wall. Then keep on hitting him until he is very close to splitting. Do a sword-dash through the split and he'll become a pair of eyes. Defeat the two eyes with your Sword to finish them off.
- Grab the third Instrument, the Sea Lily's Bell. It will play it's version of the Ballad of the Wind Fish as usual, then it will teleport you out of the
Dungeon. Following the walkthrough so far? You should have seven hearts, four Pieces of Heart, and eight Secret Seashells. Congrats, you are getting closer to beating the game!
"...WATERFALL... It is hidden in the waterfall..."
