Zelda Fanart Spotlight – Atop the Tower

Today’s Zelda Fanart Spotlight is on deviantART artist fluxmage‘s Majora’s Mask fanart “Atop the Tower“. This artwork shows Link, in Deku form, and Tatl on top of the Clock Tower on the third day. They are confronting the Skull Kid by trying to make him stop what he’s doing and to return what he took from Link which is the Ocarina that he is lazily tossing up into the air. Tatl’s brother Tael is also present at the scene and is floating around the Skull Kid debating on who he wishes to help more: his sister or his friend.

This is indeed a tough decision for him to make. If he chooses his sister he risks losing his friend to the darkness by not being with him when he needs him the most. If he chooses his friend he risks having the world and everything in it come to an end. No pressure.

This is one of the most memorable scenes that I can recall in the game. Its one where you can see the internal debate that goes on in each of the characters as they decide which side they wish to take: Link deciding to fight for Termina, Tatl to fight against Skull Kid’s wrongdoings, Tael fighting for what’s best for everyone, and Skull Kid (once Link returns with all the giants) to fight against the mask’s influence.
