YouTube member TheDrunkenMoogle recently posted their latest video in their series Critical Hit!!! Cocktails. Good afternoon my Zelda friends, and welcome to another Flute Boy’s Meadow! As I said last week, from now on this music feature is going to be looking at original compositions from Zelda games, breaking them down a bit and basically just looking at them in a way that we usually don’t bother to. Last week I went old-school with the classic Dark World theme from A Link to the Past, so for this week’s feature I thought I’d move…

Welcome my fellow Zelda Dungeoners to another week, another Monday, and of course another edition of Flute Boy’s Meadow! Now, regularly this music feature focuses on fan artists and covers of Zelda music, but today I decided to instead bring the spotlight to the guy behind it all: Kōji Kondō. A group of Ocarina players, some dressed like various Zelda characters, got on stage to play three Ocarina Songs. This included Zelda’s Lullaby, Epona’s Song, and the Song of Time. Make the jump to see the embedded video.

The songs you play in Ocarina of Time can be split into two major categories, warping and non-warping songs. I thought it might be interesting to explore the non-warping songs. These songs are: Zelda’s Lullaby, Epona’s Song, Saria’s Song, The Sun’s Song, The Song of Time, and The Song of Storms. They command passageways, change the will of creatures, control the elements, and even conquer time itself. Of these six songs, they can be broken down into two other categories…

During my hands on experience with Ocarina of Time 3D, one of the gameplay changes that had been considerably upgraded is how you go about playing the actual Ocarina instrument. In the Nintendo 64 and Gamecube versions, you had assigned the Ocarina to one of the ‘C’ buttons, memorized one of the songs, and had to play it. If at any point you forgot how to play one of the songs, you could go into the start menu to see…
