New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS LLSales figures are in for the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS in Japan and it happened to do really well. In fact, so did Super Smash Bros. for 3DS… as it continues to show strong sales week to week since launch. It didn’t top the charts in Japan, but it landed at #2 with 76,392 units sold. The New Nintendo 3DS naturally did a lot better during it’s launch period (2 days recorded) where the regular edition sold 70,050 while the LL edition sold 164,756 units. This is according to the the Media Create sales. For those curious, Famitsu had them chiming in at 61,151 and 172,332 respectively. Either way it…

Smash has been out worldwide for over a week now, and some of the top fighters in the world are gathering together for a tournament to see who is at the top of the early game. With characters like Little Mac dominating the online community, we can expect to see some heavy hitting fights between the competitors, but I am excited to see what tactics are being brought to counter the Smash powerhouse. Nintendo is broadcasting the event live now, and we’ve got your video footage. The winner will receive a limited edition robe and trophy…

This week your host, Adam, is joined by Chris (from last week) Jake (just some guy) and the wonderful Cassie, Level Designer on Electronic Super Joy! We talk about things like butts and why Jake thinks we should not get a Majora’s Mask remake. It gets weird. Remember to email us at

Sakurai has never been one to not speak his mind, such as when he complained about folks pestering him online through avenues like Twitter. Such pestering (typically to reveal characters for Smash) can grow tiresome, even if you understand fans desires for more information. One big complaint about the recent Super Smash Bros. roster (We’ll just call it Smash 4, even though that isn’t the official title) is that there are clone characters. Granted, this isn’t new for the series, but what most are upset about are that these clones took away a roster spot from someone else. Before we can get into why he thinks…

While we haven’t had the console officially announced for North America yet, Japan is getting a special edition Smash Bros. New 3DS XL, which confirms what we thought all along. The face plate swap isn’t on the XL version so they can keep releasing limited editions that way, versus just making people buy face plates. In addition, they are getting a Smash Bros. theme for their Home screen. We’ll likely see that theme come our way later this year, but we may not see the New 3DS LL Limited Edition version. However, Japan is also getting a Smash Bros. faceplate, and I would suspect that has a much higher…

We’re you curious how well Super Smash Bros. for 3DS has been selling? According to a recent report straight from Nintendo through a PR Email, it’s been selling quite well. The 2.8 million figure includes both digital and retail sales across the globe in all major regions (Japan, Europe, North America, South America, and Australia). We know the game has sold more than 1 million retail units in Japan, so that could theoretically put a damper on sales over the rest of the globe. It also appears the cut off date for these figures is October 5th, since it specifically mentions only two days were counted…

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS gives a lot of love to the Zelda series when it comes to trophies. While I am still trying to collect them all, I am happy to see a nice video showing off all of the currently known Zelda trophies in the 3DS version of the game. I have no idea if their are any extra trophies in the Wii U version, but I can imagine there would be simply to add more to the giant collectathon that Smash Bros. is known for. I am unsure what my favorite Zelda trophy is, though naturally I would assume Skull Kid would get many votes…

By now many of you may be aware that I had what I have now deemed as a “failure to launch” when it comes to Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. My initial impressions were not looking good, mostly due to having intense lag in the single player areas whenever I faced 4 CPU opponents with items on no matter what stage I was on. It wasn’t pleasant, as having my screen freeze multiple times really kicks my brain out of the experience.

Thankfully this review is not based entirely on that experience, because I was able to rectify the issue after resetting my A Link Between Worlds 3DS XL and attaching a different Nintendo Network ID to it. Basically, a blank system with nothing downloaded and no games… except for my retail version of Super Smash Bros. for 3DS. Yes, the things I make difficult for myself (recovering my digital downloads) just for the sake of a review. Somehow this eliminated my lag entirely, allowing me to give a fair review of what most of you are already are or can expect to experience should you choose to dive in at some point.

Were you short on funds to get the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros.? Maybe you’re waiting for payday… or still debating. Possibly the game is sold out in your area, or you aren’t sure if it is worth the money. Whatever the case may be, we’re giving away 1 Download code for the game, eligible to United States fans only. We’re going to make this a special art contest, where we will feature three artists, with one taking home the code. What does the art need to be of? Well… Smash Bros. of course! Bonus points if it includes Zelda characters in the game…

It’s no surprise that Super Smash Bros. series always give good sales numbers to Nintendo, after selling more than 2 million copies on it’s first two days at Japan, Media Create reports that Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS
