Sales figures are in for the launch of the New Nintendo 3DS in Japan and it happened to do really well. In fact, so did

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS… as it continues to show strong sales week to week since launch. It didn’t top the charts in Japan, but it landed at #2 with 76,392 units sold. The New Nintendo 3DS naturally did a lot better during it’s launch period (2 days recorded) where the regular edition sold 70,050 while the LL edition sold 164,756 units. This is according to the the Media Create sales. For those curious, Famitsu had them chiming in at 61,151 and 172,332 respectively. Either way it did extremely well. It helps that Monster Hunter 4 launched along side of it. Here are the official Media Create figures:

  1. [3DS] Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate – 1,446,289 / NEW
  2. [3DS] Super Smash Bros. for 3DS – 76,392 / 1,557,829

Owners of the New 3DS seem to be fairly happy with the system. It has a faster response time, load time, download speed, and just an overall sleeker feel to the Operating System. They also seem to love the customizable faceplates and the C-Stick… which seems to operate better than most thought it would before they owned the system.
