Can you believe it! Thanks to fellow gaming site, Cubed3, we have found out that Nintendo and Retro Studios have been working on developing The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask x Nintendogs for the 3DS and mixing it up with some cute puppy influence. After such a long wait for Majora’s Mask to be remade for one of Nintendo’s current consoles, fans should be impressed that the announcement confirms what patience has provided. By adding the Nintendogs element into this exciting crossover title, Shigeru Miyamoto has fulfilled his dream by revamping the title to create a heart-warming Zelda title compared to its dark and creepy original N64 classic.

Nintendo stated that they originally developed Majora’s Mask as a simple remake for the 3DS which was originally ready for release on December 21st 2012 but instead decided to add a new style of playing by introducing Nintendogs to the mix and settling on a release date of April 1st 2014. This exciting new title in the Zelda series will only release via the 3DS eShop.

The debut trailer for Majora’s Mask x Nintendogs plus comments from Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime and Retro Studios’ boss Michael Kelbaugh can be found after the break!

Before we get to the comments from both companies’ main men, let’s take a look at what we can expect from the Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask x Nintendogs gameplay.

What did you think of that all-new footage? Let’s read what Reggie had to say on this brave new endeavor!

“Nintendo is all about innovation. We spent twenty five years inviting you into new worlds with Link (laughs), but now it is your turn to save Hyrule as a breeder.  We are also planning download content to add more creatures. The Deku Scrub, Stalfos and Ganondorf are all planned as DLC for late 2014.”
Reggie Fils-Aime, Nintendo of America President

Wow, DLC is also planned to be added later on! Other comments are given by Retro Studios boss, Michael Kelbaugh:

“I am chuffed that Nintendo decided to “upend the table”. We were originally developing Metroid x Star Fox together with Metroid Prime 4, but scrapped both projects in favor of The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask x Nintendogs.
Michael Kelbaugh , Retro Studios

Nintendo really blew everyone out of the water when announcing this intriguing new addition to its famed series. How exciting to be given the job as Hyrule’s top breeder! It’s sure to be Nintendo’s number one 3DS title for years to come, and I’m sure you’ll join me in saluting Nintendo for giving us what we’ve always wanted. This is a much better choice than developing a Star Fox crossover with Metroid for sure!

Note: Don’t panic! This was just an April Fools joke developed solely by the creativity of the guys over at Cubed3. Kudos to them for coming up with such an innovative joke and even creating a fake trailer for this thought-up game! If you’d like to read the full post on their April Fools joke, click here. Be sure, though, that this game is by far not being developed at all (unless Nintendo really is that stupid!).

What do you think of this April Fools joke? Do you think Cubed3 created this fake press release well? Do you think Majora’s Mask should be given a “lighter” setting rather than the dark and scary environment it has been known for?
