Throughout the Zelda series we’ve seen a number of different languages, including Hylian, Gerudo, Minish and Sheikah. Often languages don’t play a huge part in the Zelda games, and they are only prominent due to the scripts on signs and monuments littered across the overworld. However, developers must place some importance on the cultural aspects of Zelda games, as the Hylian language has evolved over the years. In fact there has been six forms of the Hylian language used by the residents of Hyrule. This begs the question, if culture and language is important to the game, should the Hylian language play a bigger part in the adventure?

I really love the look of Hylian script, and I also love how the language and the letters themselves have changed as new games were released. I think it would be awesome if this language would play a bigger part in future games. Imagine a puzzle, and instead of using items or switches, you would use a Hylian word that you may have seen in a different part of the dungeon. I wish that the Hylian language played a larger role because of it’s potential to add a new element to game play.

What you do you think? Should the Hylian language be developed more in game? Sound off in the comments below!
