Pop culture is cyclical. While some properties of the 80’s never left (*cough* Transformers *cough*), others have only recently made a resurgence. Ask anyone who’s watched the new Voltron: Legendary Defender series on Netflix and they can tell you they did an amazing job on updating the original series to a new audience. And speaking of video game adaptations, that new Castlevania series is LIT. It’s only 4 episodes long though, which is a rant for another time.

Going back to my point, things always have a tendency to come back around. As you can see from the header image, there was a decent attempt at a Legend of Zelda cartoon in the late 80’s. It…wasn’t that great. If “Excuuuuuuuse me, princess!” makes you shudder, you’re not alone. But we’ve been in a resurgence of quality cartoons lately, both in writing and animation. Who’s to say that we couldn’t get a Legend of Korra quality show out of the Zelda canon?

So that’s today’s question: is it finally time to go back to the well and bring a Legend of Zelda cartoon to the masses? Should it be 2D, or CGI a la Star Wars Rebels? A finite amount of episodes, or a massive show that keeps going and hits all the games/stories in the timeline? Sound off with your suggestions below! Who’s to say we don’t convince someone at Netflix to take a look?
