No need to adjust your sets, folks. IGN has reported that Apple’s next iPhone update, iOS 16, will include support for Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers. iOS 16 was announced this past week at Apple’s Worldwide Developer’s Conference (WWDC) for a scheduled fall release. Apple news juggernaut 9to5Mac, iOS developer Riley Testut, and Apple engineering manager Nat Brown have all confirmed that the new iOS update would include support for the Nintendo Switch controllers, alongside support for other game controllers.

Nintendo’s Switch controllers will join the likes of Xbox and PlayStation, whose controllers have been supported on iPhone since the iOS 14.5 update. With Nintendo Switch Joy-Con and Switch Pro Controller support, Apple is likely recognizing Nintendo’s popularity and expansion into the mobile gaming arena further.

iOS 16 will also feature unique customizable lock-screen widgets and will be available as a public beta next month. The update is expected to release in the fall, requiring iPhone 8 generation or newer.
