While the holiday season is certainly one of my favorite times of the year, it brings with it a lot of extra stress on top of my normal responsibilities at work and at home. Joining the shopping rush, planning for travel or hosting festivities, and making sure it all doesn’t break the bank really sends my anxiety skyward. In years past, I’ve also had to make sure I passed my final exams for college or graduate school, which was always its own beast to battle. Aren’t the holidays supposed to be more fun and restful?

As I wait for the holiday cheer to hit properly, I’m reminded of one of my favorite inspiring Zelda moments to dwell on when facing stressful situations that put me more or less in battle mode. I press play on Breath of the Wild’s Beast Ganon theme, and imagine myself as Link, facing down the approaching malignant menace with the Master Sword in hand. For me, channeling this moment is empowering and gives me more energy to face life’s challenges. In the past, it’s helped me walk up the steep hill to my old apartment after long, tiring days, pass my first tough master’s level paper exams, and defend my thesis last year. Sometimes stressful situations, no matter the actual size of the problem, can all feel equally dreadful in the moment, but having a go-to Zelda scene like this one helps me muster the courage to get through them all.

So, how about you? What Zelda moment do you tend to channel when facing stressful situations? Do you have a favorite musical theme or scene you like to think of when you need a little push to get things done? Let us know down below in those comments!
