Daily Debate: What Do You Hope For in Special Editions of Zelda Games?
Posted on November 27 2020 by David Nystrom
Special editions are a big thing for many collectors, and Zelda fans are no exception. When Breath of the Wild was released in 2017, it came with two different Collector’s Editions in North America. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity is getting bonus swag in Japan and a special keyring for those in the US who pre-ordered through GameStop. This got me thinking though, what do you hope for in Special Editions of future Zelda games?
Going almost ten years back, Skyward Sword was released with a special gold Wiimote, as well as a cloth map and the 25th Anniversary soundtrack. For me, this was an amazing collection (that I still have as part of my display), but it seems that it’d be the bare bones for today’s world. I think all of that, plus some sort of displayable figurine, is a must for Collector’s Editions. Given the demand for amiibo, I would make the display figure have amiibo functionality, but not look like a typical amiibo.
What about you? What sort of things would you like to see in Collector’s Editions of future Zelda games? Let us know in the comments below, or chat about it over on our Discord!
