Nintendo Applies for Triforce Trademark

Intellectual copyright is an important part of the gaming community, and Nintendo is no slouch in covering their bases. Recently, Nintendo applied to trademark the iconic Zelda Triforce, specifically for the English word to be used in console and smartphone games. Whether or not this means a Zelda title will be coming to phones is yet to be seen, but Nintendo has done this nonetheless.
It’s curious that Nintendo hasn’t done this sooner. Nintendo is usually very on top of protecting their IPs, so this move so late in Zelda’s life span just seems out of place to me. Considering how often Nintendo addresses fan projects and the like, I figured this would be the first thing they’d have done.
