So another week of

Super Smash Bros. for 3DS/Wii U screenshots have come and gone, and with that more than five glorious photos are here from Lord Sakurai for the viewing pleasure of all his faithful following. Those are all down below with their Miiverse posts attached to them, as well as some thoughts on what it means for the upcoming games. Enjoy!

“Pic of the day. In this Smash Bros. installment, this little guy is also making an appearance! I…don’t know his name, but he’s the Prince of the Sablé Kingdom. He’s from the Game Boy game Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru (translated as The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls), which was only released in Japan.”

The young man in the screenshot for Monday is from a Japanese-exclusive (go figure..) Famicom game. The game was called

Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru, which translates into “The Frog For Whom the Bell Tolls”. The game interestingly enough has been re-released on the 3DS Virtual Console but only in Japan. Maybe one day we will see the Single-Player Action-RPG game come Stateside over the Virtual Console? Maybe some Smash exposure would do the trick!

“Pic of the day. Look at these three radiant pieces… Yup, you guessed it! It’s another combinable item like the Dragoon-the Daybreak.”

Ahh, so it returns. The dragoon was an item that when assembled lets the player become very powerful by having a possible one-hit KO. The Daybreak looks to replicate something similar by having a combinable item that lets you deal massive damage, while doing it in style. I mean look at, those sweet golden, shining pieces of weaponry.

“Pic of the day. Victini and Xerneas are both support Pokémon. Victini’s Victory Star boosts the attack of whoever throws the Poké Ball, and also prevents flinching. Xerneas’s Geomancy increases the launch power of all fighters, but exceptionally raises it for whoever had the Poké Ball.”

This picture is in my opinion the second most interesting screenshot of the week. For the first time ever in the

Super Smash Bros. series, we have support Pokémon! As Sakurai says, the player who tosses the Poké Ball is granted an even stronger effect. This can vary between the power to launch fighters or just straight up increase a player’s overall attack power. Very interesting development; how many more possible Pokémon could be involved into the mix? Let us know which Pokémon you think could be included as support characters.

“Pic of the day. Here’s the trophy gallery for the 3DS version. You can rotate the trophies by drawing circles on the bottom screen. Super Smash Bros. Brawl had tons of trophies, but rumor has it that the 3DS version alone may have more than Brawl. Looks like the Dr. Wily that we made from scratch for the 3DS version is on his knees in disbelief.”

Sakurai loves to tease the fans, implying that the 3DS version of

Smash will have more trophies than Brawl, which is a lot. 544 to be precise. So for the 3DS version alone to have more than that is very impressive!

“Here’s something new–the trophy shop. If you’re having a hard time getting certain trophies, why not just buy them? They sometimes go on sale, too.”

This brings us to another picture that was posted on Thursday, which showed another brand new feature in the latest

Super Smash Bros. series, which is the trophy shop! The shop is a very interesting idea that allows players to trade in coins that they earn in-game for trophies that could be more difficult to find, or just easier trophies that players want to collect. The idea behind this is very nice, and less tedious than the lottery mode in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

“Pic of the day. “♪Ba-ding!♪””

Simply put, a brand new stage has been revealed today! The stage is very exciting because not only is it the actual Original Game Boy screen, but the characters on-screen are colored Sepia, which reflects the classic Game Boy color palette. The stage could be a very similar design to that of the FlatZone 2 Stage, in

Super Smash Bros. Brawl where the stage changes between different classic Game Boy games, obvious inclusions could be Tetris, Pokémon, or Mario Land. What do you think?

So, another week’s worth of images wrapped up. What do you guys think? Do you like some of the new additions? Let us know in the comments section below!
